The following list places the so called informational modalities on the left side of the ledger such as podcasts, seminars etc. On the upper or horizontal ledger we have placed a few subjects, such as, general farming issues, local food issues, and larger scale issues. Now it may take some additional effort to further clarify these subjects, for instance larger scale issues refers to issues like the farm bill, Internationale trade agreements etc
The basic idea here is just to try to demonstrate how a spread sheet such as this could work. The system could serve as a short cut, or quick guide in trying to find both the type of resource, podcast, book, etc you are looking for, and at the same time match it with the topic, or issue, you are trying to find. Such theoretical usage of spread sheets could over course be extended to something like sub spread sheets For instance the topic of local food could be further broken down into issues such as farmers market's, CSA, and food policy councils. In general spread sheets would just provide a small list of a few items, such as a few books listed in the box, other option such as hyperlinks, or other types of technologies that could theoretically create a bit of a mapping type function enclosed within a small box on a spread sheet

Closely tied Issues
Resources In terms of health questions regarding how food is produced both by local growers and conventional marketplace growers are addressed in the Health Menu
Resources do not include any activity beyond growing it So all food processors , transporters, and retail sales are part of the food consumer category
In regard to the technical information on how to grow food we go as far as the harvesting of crops. Issues of what happens later in the process until they reach your plate is again addressed in the food consumer section
Larger questions about the condition of the larger environment and how what we grow and what resources we use in growing of course impact the larger environment
Economics is addressed here to some degree, but mostly in the context of how to create successful enterprise at the local level. However the reality of market driven prices have an impact that is beyond the scope of what we can do locally. Some of this is covered by looking at some of the public policy issue, but there is also an area of economic philosophy which is not necessarily captured by discussions of the conventional market This issue is taken up in the Local Networking Menu
