In general we draw a distinction between health treatment modalities which lend themselves to local resources, and those who do not
Thus there is a divide between what we are listing as conventional practitioners and local practitioners. In general local practitioners are considerably less reliant on industrial health care with drugs, expensive procedures etc. It may be an imperfect distinction but we felt some distinction was necessary in identifying practices that are in some sense more rooted in practices that need mostly local resources and those who do not
The technologically heavy modalities in conventional medicine are not generally considered to be locally amenable to local resources alone
This line is not perfect Naturopaths, and chiropractors often use technological heavy diagnostics even though the treatments may be low tech in a sense
Therefore in general most of the categories presented pertain to the locally amenable modalities and most conventional information is under the conventional health menu
We do however have at least one menu on conventional medicine here in the Local Conventional Practitioner Heath Care menu. This menu is meant to at least serve as a guide to help you locate conventional practitioners. It is also meant to serve as feedback function where local who want to can share whatever experiences they choose in their dealings with any particular practitioner. While services such as Angie's List, YELP, and some other on-line review systems already exist, we want to raise the idea of whether a local grassroots systems of reviews might serve to augment those existing review systems
Most of the menus in this section seem relatively self explanatory in terms of the modality of practice. Most pages just have links and lists of local practitioners and at times list website and Facebook pages of individual practitioners The ideal is to have all practitioners listed with whatever information they put out for the public, as well as critiques and affirmations of public in terms of their relations with said practitioner
